Residential complex "Nottingham"

Residential complex ‘Nottingham’, drafting of which began in 2008, is currently one of the largest construction projects in the Republic of Belarus. The project is being implemented by Joint-Stock Company UnivestStroyInvest limited, being one of the leading ventures of the Univest-M group of companies.

A principle of the maximum effective use of the territory with creation of a coherent architectural ensemble at each stage of the project is laid down into the architectural profile and detailed layout plan of the Residential complex ‘Nottingham’, the development of which is headed by a renowned architect A. Konovalenko.

Territory of the residential complex lies in two kilometres from the Minsk ring road and borders: in the north – on a projected highway in the direction of Minsk National Airport; in the south – on Stiklevo national biological sanctuary; in the west – on the highway and railway Kolodishchi-Mikhanovichi; and in the east – on the section of projected golf course.

Transportation to/from Minsk will be carried out by city buses and fixed-run taxis along the new motorway Minsk – Minsk National Airport. 15-minute accessibility of metro stations Mogilevskaya and Uruchye will allow would-be tenants of the residential complex to reach any location of the capital rather quickly.

Residential complex ‘Nottingham’ is a large-scale project both from the viewpoint of the size of the territory and in terms of the projected population size: it is anticipated to build over 850,000 square meters of housing facilities for 21,000 people on 290.3 ha.

A characteristic feature of the residential complex is construction of residential real estate concurrently with establishment of educational, medical and sports infrastructure, as well as improvement of the availably forestry and landscaping of the premises and the streets.

Educational and medical infrastructure of Residential complex ‘Nottingham’ includes four kindergartens, three comprehensive schools, a clinic, medical centres and pharmacies with an even distribution of state and private types of ownership. It is planned to introduce in the educational institutions of the residential complex the best practices and advanced study of the English language.

All required functional capabilities for physical training and different sports are also incorporated into the project: construction of stadiums, skating rinks, swimming pools, tennis courts, ski roller track, as well as open sites for physical training.

An explicit competitive advantage is availability of various commercial properties that will be attractive for both realisation of large-scale projects and investment in the format of small and medium businesses.

It is anticipated to build in the residential complex hotels, offices, stores, shopping centres, restaurants, cafeterias, as well as entertainment infrastructure facilities.

Implementation of the project envisages harmonious combination of the interests of business and the state in the course of housing and social infrastructure establishment, in line with a possibility of shaping a totally new approach towards the arrangement of living space.

Concept of the project, consolidating traditions of Belarusian and British culture, is of particular significance.

Similarity of national features of Belarusians’ and Brits’ nature, such as affection to the environment, high family values, mutual assistance and friendliness are fully embedded in the name of the residential complex, which reflects a long-term twin-city relationship of Minsk and Nottingham.

Values of Nottingham, such as life in harmony with the environment, respectful attitude towards history and traditions, and high level the public socialisation are fully in line with philosophy of the project Residential complex ‘Nottingham’.

The use of historically established approaches of Belarusian and European urban planning, basically reflected in low-rise buildings with creation of closed yards/premises and internal parks, signifies going back to good-neighbourly relations and values of human communication.

Would-be Residential complex ‘Nottingham’, whose construction will commence in 2011, will become a localisation with embodiment of culture, tourism and sports life and with a potential for the realisation of international festival traditions, as well as various cultural and social programmes.
